Growing up in Port Elizabeth thinking Jo-burg was the "bad" city our city has become just as bad.The "gangsta" route is soon becoming the most popular route for our youth. The "gangsterism" life ispublic and practically a norm is actually a career choice now.
It was firstly just in movies where people where publicly shot or using drugs and guns in the streets now these "lords" live their lives the way they please in our streets, The American gangsta is no longer just a movie its  the P.E gangster in your back street.
The flashy life that every young child grows up dreaming of; the money and the cars and clothes belong to them. These are the materialistic items that make gangsta's role models in our society, forgetting how all those accessories where obtained.
In the clubs and on the streets they live the life, they have the pretty girls and party the best, boys from the ages of fourteen are striving to live such lives!. Young girls have lost their sense of moral. Setting standards of dating guys that drive cars to be their boyfriends from the age's of 15.
The scary part in all of this is the number of people we are going to loose to crime, talents that will be lost in the early stages of character development, the same youth and future of tomorrow are the same people whom are going to kill our future dream for South Africa.
When did it become a crime to want a proper burial for you child or parent?. No! now the inn thing is having a bash celebrating the lost life, yes the principle of celebrating each others lives sounds sweet but the chaos and rivary amongst these people is just not acceptable. Yes all cultures should be appreciated but is this a culture that should be accepted amongst society?
What happened to being proud of being sent of to varsity, the pride in getting a holiday job, the pride of bringing home a well earned salary, buying your first car and actually pay for it with hard earned money?
There is never going to be an equal society or a society out of poverty by the rate we are going...
