Mobile nanny

Someone please explain to me the concept behind the new theme of having a mobile nanny...

Maybe it is because I don’t have a child yet or simply, uhmmm I am old fashioned. I find it so unnecessary to have a helper where ever I am to help with my children, well that’s when I will one day have them.

At first I thought it was just a money thing. You know how the ritch always find ways to brag and show off their money ability, the idea of showing people that “You can book a hotel room for your hubby, the children and helper”.

It is sad for me to see mothers with children at Walmer Park or Green acres mall shopping with their children and having the helper there to “control” the children..DO YOU NOT KNOW HOW TO HANDLE THEM? If not then leave them at home.

I have seen this new trend at many public places like at the Boardwalk which is a game centre really for friends, family etc to have fun. I spot parents gallivanting hand in hand and behind them the nanny walking with the children and watching their every move. This in my eyes is not a family trip it is a momy and dady trip, the children having a trip with their guardian at the same time and same place.

Then parents of today wonder why there is such a lack of communication between them and their children, I think my mother and I have a relationship because it has always been there, I trust her with my secrets because I have trusted her with my barbies and tea cups, do not neglect raising your children and expect them to respect you one day... Its not happening.

Chances are you will not stick to the same helper soo how many rules are your children going to learn and adapt to, it is not only mothers its fathers too that have fallen for this weird trend, I pray that no matter how busy I am I will raise my children being there for them and being active in their lives. Buying them gadgets and sitting on my laptop while they sit with the nanny at Mc Donalds is missing out on the most vital stages of building a relationship with your child. Oh and it’s not white people doing it is us black people too we are going to traditional works with the nanny to watch the children, braai’s and mall’s, Shame umama wabantu forever watching your children. I find it disrespectful actually.

The other day when this topic hit me, I was sitting at Mc Donald’s having lunch and this beautiful lady walked in with her two boys and the nanny, they all ordered and sat The mother sat there watching her children while the nanny helped them eat an d watch them play outside.  While their mother sat there looking amazing, there is nothing wrong with having a helper but that is what their job description should be “helping you out”.
