One would think that with the evolving of time and development of education in the public sector beauty pageants would be more than just being thin and "pretty"....
Yes now there are intriguing questions at the pageants and the girls seem to have personalities, but think about it a girl with an amazing brain and amazing personality in a size 36 will not enter miss SA, simply because she cant model a bikini suite and look "good"as the size 26 girls, why don't they host a miss personality and that can be the representative of the country. It is not wrong to be a small person but it is also not wrong to be a big person. So why are certain things only suitable for some? One would think that a competition this important should be free for everyone.
A competition like face of Africa is that also for models only and why, because it the face of the Continent should be an example to all, a beautiful dark face i think. But still if your not the right bone structure you will fail at the competition. Some will ask why wont these (big) people enter then and see how far they go, it is because their minds have been set to tell them they are fat and beauty competition's are not for them. Young children look up to such icons; miss south Africa, miss world and ,miss PE. It is not only cover girls that influence how people perceive PERFECT but these icons and competitions.
And no hosting miss FAT SA is not the answer there is nothing wrong with the idea of having a competition for big people but its a discrimination on its own... FAT, no one likes being call fat not even a thin model, it carries a negative connotation.
