Has the Port Elizabeth community had enough of the service they receive from the SAPS, or are they just impatient.
Most of the communities surrounding the bay have had enough and are taking matters in their own hands, there have been brutal beatings and deaths to avenge themselves of the people they have lost to crime and their stolen goods. The community takes matters upon their own hands, the whole community takes part and they "punish" those that have done them wrong.
Some say that this is not the way forward and some totally support this action. The bay has been facing some troubles, we where facing the health crisis which has died down and now the communities are busy with their own law. No one has been arrested because they can not pin point and blame certain members for a group effort. Those whom have been affected by these crimes are happy that some of their things are found and once these criminals are dead then they can live on without fear. They also voice out proudly that if one acts like a dog they must die like a dog; necklacing their criminals or stoning them to death. Workers are tired of living in fear women/ men have been found dead in their homes and some famlies have witnessed a murder during a robbery, rape and murder are common amongst the robbers and so the community has had enough they now will no longer wait for the police, because those arrested are said to sometimes get out on a hundred rand bail. This might not be the way forward in a democratic country but the citizens that pay tax have had enough . They do not want to work for gangsters and certainly not to support a drug habit.
This animal behaviour amongst those that steal and kill is associated with drugs, there are rumours around the New Brighton area that the houses that sell drugs will be burnt or closed down, the robbers are young boys that have associated themselves with drugs and refuse to work then it affects the whole community.
The question is how will the Bay municipality but a stop to these actions and how will they make the community happy, since they refuse to wait for the police.
